Review of Defendor (2009) by Charles R — 06 Jul 2014
I really liked lots of the "everyman superhero" movies that were really popular for a couple of years, like Kick-Ass and Super. What mostly sets this one apart is Harrelson with, (mock gasp), an amazing performance.
It's like he's got his own super senses, knows exactly what aspect of his complicated and fascinating character to play up at what time (emotionally, the movie at some point hits just about every point of the spectrum you could imagine), even if it doesn't seem like the obvious choice.
Also, unlike "Super, this played up the mental illness angle well, and knew what exactly to do with it.
