Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Robert C — 25 May 2017

Deepwater Horizon is proof that Peter Berg has found what movies he works best at, because this has to be one of the biggest surprises of the year. Deepwater Horizon is about the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 which caused ultimate damage to the gulf and put lives at risk.

Mark Wahlberg has to have one of the most memorable performance in his career in this movie, which is really saying something because his last couple of movies have been only alright. The other cast members in this film, such as John Malkovich, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez, and Dylan O'Brein all bring great performances as well as Wahlberg.

Deepwater Horizon is a film that starts out extremely slow but as the story progresses you can't stop watching it. Deepwater Horizon isn't for everyone because the film is hard to watch at times, is pretty raw and gritty in terms of tone, and can get extremely emotional especially towards the end, however that being said its still a really good movie.

As I said earlier in this review, after this movie and Lone Survivor (2013) Peter Berg has definitely found the films he works best at which are biographies about famous events in American history, I honestly can't wait to see what he makes in the future.

Deepwater Horizon is an intense, powerful, and emotional film that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat, the film also will make you want to learn more about this tragedy after your done watching it.
