Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Nate Z — 01 Oct 2016
Peter Berg may have just delivered his best film since "Friday Night Lights" or just maybe his best film to date with "Deepwater Horizon", an intense, well crafted, well detailed, and emotional spectacle, not often are we treated to big effects heavy spectacles with a firm emotional grip, and characters that feel very well realized.
The film takes a while to get to the devastation on the Deepwater Horizon but it's totally worth it thanks to its surprisingly hefty focus on character development. Mark Wahlberg once again provides a good lead performance along with fine supporting performances from Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez, and many others.
