Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Salah A — 10 Oct 2016

"Deepwater Horizon" stars Mark Wahlberg and Kate Hudson in the movie based on the true story of the oil rigger of the same name that catastrophically exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. The film is a disaster movie of epic proportions and makes the viewer question where liability should be placed.

The spill that resulted stands to this day as the greatest environmental disaster of this century. While the film was full of action, much of this action was whirlwind and made the plot and characters under developed.

As with many disaster films, they were simply there to ensure destruction without being fleshed out. John Malkovich and Kurt Russell provide solid support but the films whirlwind action makes it hard to know what's going on.

This is a middle of the road disaster flick and nothing else ------------------------------------------------------------- C+.
