Review of Deepwater Horizon (2016) by Chris F — 26 Dec 2016

Deepwater Horizon is a thrilling and effective film from director Peter Berg. The acting is top notch. Mark Wahlberg, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell, and John Malkovich all turn in great performances. The film effectively sets up the characters and makes us like them.

It makes the disaster more intense. And boy is this movie tense! The oil rig explosion is very intense. I was on the edge of my seat. The film does have some flaws. The technicalities of how the rig works weren't explained enough.

I was confused on some of the stuff. Also, the film is predictable, but that's expected. Overall, this film proves that Berg and Wahlberg make a great combination. I can't wait for Patriot's Day.
