Almost, but not quite, entirely guilty pleasure.
I don't beleive it's AS bad as everyone says.
Sure the monster gets minimal screentime and the pacing is horribly unbalanced. And sure it's a blatant attempt to cash-in on The Abyss but it's ripe with 80's B-movie awesomeness and some really memorable scenes.
