Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Matthew V — 11 Oct 2010
Unlike other disaster movies such as "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Category 7", Deep Impact is nowhere near as exhilarating or amazing. The storyline is way to simple. An asteriod is heading for earth and unless they destory it, earth will cease to exist.
Nothing exciting about it. They even managed to sneak a love subplot and a broken relationship subplot which became about 70% of the film itself. So you can't even call it a disaster film. The acting was subpar except for Duvall who once again did a wonderful job.
So in closing, if you have to choose between this and "The Day After Tomorrow", choose the latter.
