Review of Deep Impact (1998) by Zachary M — 18 Sep 2016
So this was one of two meteorites are going to strike the earth movies that came out in the summer of 1998. This was the one not directed by Michael Bay, and yet is still the weaker movie.
The biggest problem above all, and there's a lot form bad acting to boring characters, is the plot. It's so generic that with a simple re-write this could have been any kind of disaster movie. From a giant volcano, to a massive earthquake, Hell even Godzilla could have rose out of the sea and it wouldn't have been too far off. Nothing in it screams, "This is our story!" At least at least Michael Bay's film could, and when you lose a filmmaking contest with Michael Bay, you've lost more than just a contest let me tell you.
