You just can't take this movie seriously from the get-go but there is something about creature-features that I love. LL Cool J kind of sneaks up on you as the lead in this movie, sharing some of the limelight with Thomas Jane, but this was a great springboard for him to become a potential action star.
Tearing away from the normal rules for this type of movie, no-one is safe in the water, which definitely adds the tension for your first watch.
