Review of Deep Blue Sea (1999) by Stefan G — 08 Aug 2012
If you find a DVD underwater, don't salvage it. It's probably Deep Blue Sea, the most blatant rip-off of Jaws you'll ever know. The characters are extremely bland, with Samuel L. Jackson being the only meritable actor here.
The presentation is bland and mediocre, as is the action, and the movie itself is completely unscary. Worst of all, the plot is a blatant rip-off of Jaws, except for it's completely dumb, formulaic, and, if Mythbusters is anything to go by, loaded with bad science.
I fail to understand why we need bad shark movies like these when we already had Jaws.
