Review of Dedication (2007) by Joe H — 12 Feb 2008
I've been rather busy lately with school and theatre - we're performing The Scarlet Pimpernel and I play the Prince of Wales. Fun stuff, I guess.
Anyway, I have been watching stuff lately. I watched Gandhi in my Morality and Justice class. It was certainly a well-made epic. Ben Kingsley gives an absolutely epic performance and the film looks great - I thougjt, based on what I was seeing, that the film was made in the mid-90s. The film is really good, but it drags in some spots. Overall, though, I would recommend it if you have three hours to give up.
8/10.
I also watched Dedication with Mandy Moore and Billy Crudup. I think that Justin Theroux is an awesome actor and his directing is good too. The movie is about an illustrator (Moore) who is hired to work with a children's book author (Crudup) that is basically crazy. The movie is uncoventional in its approach to the romantic comedy/drama, but its plot does suffer from stereotypes. If it weren't for that, this would be an excellent film. Kudos to Moore for taking on a different sort of character.
8.5/10.
