Review of Deconstructing Harry (1997) by David S — 12 Mar 2010
Deconstructing Harry takes the typical Woody Allen character and adapts him to a formula that's part Wild Strawberries, part Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters. The formula makes the exploration of Woody's character more genuine than the never-ending series of one-liners that Woody Allen movies sometimes feel like.
Maybe it reveals self-hatred, but that's one of the risks inherent to self-reflection.
