Review of Deck the Halls (2006) by Steve R — 15 Sep 2010
Watched this with my family friends and even though they liked it, I hated it. Why is it that every holiday season there's always a Christmas movie that brings nothing new, original, or has any energy or wit? This ends up going down as just another typical and predictable Christmas comedy.
To be honest, the cast in this is great but this is arguably the worst I've seen out of all them. The acting is cheesy and the dialogue is just bad. Plus, some of the performances just aren't believable. Like DeVito's and Chenoweth's characters were supposed to be married and their marriage was arguably the least believable marriage in the movie. While on the other hand, Broderick's and Davis's marriage was a lot more believable.
The plot is just nonsense and will do nothing to put anyone in a holiday mood. Plus, the jokes are so flat and unfunny, it's sickening. Although I did think the "Who's Your Daddy?" gag was pretty funny. However, even that jokes gets old pretty fast. The plot in the end is just predictable and flat. Don't know what happened to the good Christmas comedies but this movie definitely ain't it. It's a crap movie from start to finish. I really enjoy the holiday season but I wish it would go by faster so audiences wouldn't have to endure such garbage.
