Review of Deck the Halls (2006) by Ivan J — 14 Dec 2018
Danny DeVito was weird in this movie. I guess it's not him but the character. The relationship between Danny DeVito and Kristin Chenoweth's character is strange, as their looks to be an at least 20-year gap between them. I was surprised Danny DeVito was in this. You must have a huge sense of humor to laugh at most of these jokes. Sure some of it was funny but some of the jokes were weird I think the scene where the daughters were dancing in Christmas costumes was very inappropriate - I just thought it was wrong. The children roles could have had more to do with the plot or have there own plot, like at school and how different they are to adjust. One nit pick was when he got goo on him next scene it was completely wiped of. I believe Danny DeVito was a really good actor (as always). I thought it was weird even though he paid for the $1,000,000 lights by selling a family treasure passed down for generations and she still came back. Also if he couldn't afford those lights, how did he get the antique back. Did he steal it? I would recommend this as a Christmas film, not a comedy; some parts of it is funny. I would age this PG a forgettable barely sexual scene.
Grade: B.
