Review of Deception (2008) by A C — 21 May 2009
Okay, perhaps not the brightest script, but visually, this film has a lot to offer. It reminded me of the film "Stay", with Mr. McGregor himself. I like the "aura" of it and the cinematography and lighting; glamour, a con artists story, a "secret society", etc.
It has all the visual things that are always fun to watch in a film. Very urban chic. I have to add that Michelle Williams is amazing as a femme fatale; I have never seen her in a role like this, and she carried it in a very graceful, sensual way.
She has the glamour of an old Hollywood star and that touch of innocence that makes her perfect for the role. Mr. Jackman is a great star, being able to combine all kind of projects, and he always gets them right.
Commercial, non commercial, as a leading man, as a pariah.... In a phrase, not a masterpiece, but definitely worth watching. I enjoyed it.
