Review of Deathwatch (2002) by Vincent O — 28 Sep 2010
I'm a sucker for this type of movie; the recent combo of war meets horror genre. Others include 'The Bunker', 'Outpost', 'Ghost Game' (Thai), 'R-Point' and 'GuardPost' (from Korea).
I have to say I really enjoyed 'Deathwatch' and the only aspect I would have changed is the title. The trench, uniforms and the young actors are realistic enough and the horror is mostly left up to the imagination.
Where other movies of this ilk fail, is that the tension builds up and then slacks off but this time it keeps nicely up with the plot and 'Deathwatch' held my interest right up until the bloody climax.
I just don't understand the bad reviews I have read.
