Review of Death Wish 3 (1985) by Adam L. D — 05 Apr 2013
This third installment ups the ante following the bore that was Death Wish 2. The action is cranked up but sadly it doesn't make up for a poor plot once again. Director Michael Winner seems to of run out of ideas by this point and decides to go down the pointless action route as apposed to the original films simplicity of a man and his gun.
Charles Bronson has become more of a one man army as apposed to a vigilante and the death count ridiculously mirrors a Rambo film. The core of the original story has been forgotten and this film is simply a mindless killing spree.
Similar to the Dirty Harry films, as sequels spawn the novelty wares off. But ware as the Dirty Harrys are tolerable, the Death Wish's become unwatchable. Bar Charles Bronson's consistent coolness, this film has spiralled the franchise well out of control.
