Review of Death Wish (1974) by Antonio S — 31 May 2009
Great movie. charlie bronson is so naturally tough and the new york city depicted in its gritty darkness is pretty accurate. even though this vigilante yarn was basically the genesis of a type of action genre it is hardly dated as you watch it now, years after so many things have changed.
I thought the reason it worked so well as a movie was that each character, especially the city as a character, was fleshed out as a crtical observation of human nature. even though the story hinted at a sequel and went on to produce other adventures following the main character, it would have been better as a single movie.
