Review of Death Wish (1974) by Tyler K — 18 Jun 2015
Average acting. Interesting story, but the movie didn't seem well directed. The directing was decent. Can't really discuss properly about the special effects and sound quality knowing the film was shot in the early 70's.
Events leading up to the ending weren't executed properly, but I did find the ending to be very satisfying. All of the criminals in the film were too cartoonish and unrealistic for my taste; always running around everywhere with very high elementary-school-kid-like-energy and acting like high school drop out idiots and nonetheless overly childish.
I did not like that. I also found it unrealistic that the main character kept getting robbed any time he wanted to get robbed for his vigilante crimes. The police investigative conduction towards the "vigilante" in the film was not deep enough for me.
I morbidly enjoyed one scene in particular that I'll point out with good realism purposes in which the main character's first kill shown the victim squirming on the ground in pain and discomfort.
Sadly, that was the only time of realism throughout the entire movie. The film is enjoyable though, don't get me wrong, just don't expect it to be deep or realistic in any way.
