Review of Death Sentence (2007) by Mike P — 28 Nov 2009
Not exactly the feel good movie of 2007. (that's when it came out ;)) The movie starts off very good, and continues very tense, seems like it really drops off though at the end when he 'transforms' or whatever.
Ultraviolent, and it became a little campy, and insults your intelligence a bit with the whole driving a Mustang through a van scene, I was like hmm, that wouldn't work. Has a lot of great action scenes like when the gang members come to his house and he's dodging shotgun shells.
But it really falls off once you lose the whole 'good guy on the run but manages to kill bad guys in inventive ways aspect. If it would have stayed that way, it'd be a 4 star flick, but when he became a 'animal' it loses it's fun factor and it's luster.
If you want a great crime thriller reach for 'Gone, Baby Gone' or 'Taken' before you reach for this.
