Review of Death Rides a Horse (1967) by Brad E — 01 Jul 2008
Beautiful camera work with memorable performances by Lee Van Cleef and John Phillip Law. The well worn revenge narrative is complicated by an uneasy alliance and a set of visual cues that guide the avenging Law.
The English version is flawed by disconcertingly "off" dialog. A weak and overly repetitive theme by the usually great Morricone also detracts. Best line by the badass Cleef: "revenge is a dish best eaten cold.
