Review of Death Race 2 (2010) by Christophe C — 04 Feb 2011
Although most of the characters were likeable, and the action scenes were intense, the "substance" of the movie itself was completely rushed and predictable. Also, since this movie was meant to appeal to men, I felt that they made a big mistake in making a villain out of the most attractive woman in the movie, Lauren Cohan. I don't personally know of ONE guy who was able to get ANY feeling of satisfaction when she met her demise. In fact, they did a horrible job of illiciting emotion in this movie, regardless of the scene.
Since they neglect to mention that DEATH RACE 2 is actually a prequel to DEATH RACE, once you figure that out, 25% into the movie, everything else is completely predictable because we already know how DEATH RACE starts.
If you are looking for an emotional charge or a great story, look elsewhere. Outside of the outstanding racing and fight scenes, this movie fails miserably.
