Review of Death Proof (2007) by Mandy N — 30 Oct 2012
This movie sneaks up on you, it starts as you follow a group of girls out for a good night. I actually remember thinking at one point "where is this going?" But in spectacular Tarantino style, the movie experiences a sudden mood swing and we are in a different movie.
Dragged along for the ride by the charming, yet deranged, Stuntman Mike. I don't care if you don't like Tarantino, I don't care if you don't like the genre, the actors or the setting. You MUST see this movie for, if nothing else, the best car chase scene of all time.
Made all the more impressive by the fact that absolutely no computer graphics were used. Rodriguez used Grindhouse Planet Terror to explore the genre, Tarantino used Grindhouse Death Proof to make a kickass muscle car movie.
This is also Tarantino's best use of Music in a movie to date. I give it ten severed limbs up!
