Review of Death Note (2017) by Strider M — 24 Aug 2017
Darn I hate to be a downer but as a filmmaker and as a fan of Death Note this film feels down right bad. The souls of the characters are lost on the writer and director. The are changed from what makes the enduring and interesting to watch.
Light Yagami is a calm collected spycopath who uses Mia and wouldnkill her if he didnt need her. Mia is obsessed with Light, more then she wants a death note. She's ditrzy and is in the minor leagues.
L is silly, but is supposed to be somewhat of a Jesus figure. What's so fun about the original death note anime and manga is that Light has a god complex and needs domination where L actually acts like Christ.
This movie misses all those amazing nuances for a watered down disconnected film.
