Review of Death Note (2017) by Gav H — 25 Aug 2017
Adapted from the anime series of the same Death Note is the story of Light Turner who is gifted the power to kill anyone who's name he places in the Death Note.
Director Adam Wingard manages to pull the feel and atmosphere of the original source material with the help of a stand out performance by Willem Dafoe.
Trying to squeeze 37 episodes into a 101 minute run time was always going to be a mistake. Fortunatly much is left up to the imagination and unessesary fluf has been left where it belongs on the cutting room floor. The ending is left wide open allowing for a sequel to delve into the moral grey of 2 different sides of absolute justice.
