Review of Death Note (2017) by Paul P — 28 Aug 2017
While Defoe played Riuk perfectly, and the added gore was a nice touch since it is a very dark story, it still fell way short of what it could have been. I won't even say casting was bad, except this light pailed in comparison to the cocky not afraid to die witty light in the comics and original live movie.
Next time, make the full adaptation of the comic books,(only 12 well thought out rules and stick to the manga's plot), and have Defoe play Riuk again. As for L, this one jumped right into "here's my face" mode and lost the qwurky edge the character is known for.
Not sure how much this one cost to make, but please remake it correctly, keep the Riuk costume, it definitely worked and I'm sure it was expensive. Give light some balls, and make him get shit done the whole time like that last part of pulling off the 2 coma days while still killing.
I think that was the closest he came to the actual character.
