Review of Death at a Funeral (2007) by Tom B — 01 Jun 2012
Engaging performances and the mystery of the Death in the title keep you glued to this farce. While there is a lot of broad comedy, the beauty of the film is in its subtle interactions between well-written and beautifully portrayed characters. The film allows the viewer to recognize a lot of the ways we deal with each other. Add to that the irony of the self-centeredness of all of the characters at a funeral of someone supposedly dear to them.
While the whole cast is wonderful, special mention has to be made of Matthew MacFadyen, Alan Tudyk, Peter Dinklage, Peter Vaughan, and Kris Marshall. Photography looks great and is well-planned for us to catch the characters' interactions.
