Review of Dear Zindagi (2016) by Mir O — 06 Jan 2017
It is a nice change to see a subdued, non-histrionic Shah Rukh Khan shine in a non-masala Bollywood coming-of-age-drama. He actually takes the backseat to the energetic lead performance by Alia Bhatt. Additional strong points: subtle direction (by "English Vinglish"'s Gauri Shinde), fine cast, beautiful cinematography, and superb soundtrack by the always great Amit Trivedi.
Just the script could have been a little more consistent. Its colourful characters are drawn too one-dimensionally.
