Review of Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) by Tyler M — 01 Jan 2010
Such a depressing story. Filmmaker Kurt Kuenne gives an extremely personal tribute to his murdered friend and his son, and delivers this story through frenetic pacing and back-and-forth tone shifts. It does the job well, although I wished that the director wouldn't slap the viewers across the face with constant repetitions at times, and sometimes, especially near the end, that he toned down the overdramatization - the story is dramatic enough without all the extra crap thrown in for effect.
Regardless, this is an engaging film.
