It's hard to find positive elements about a film documenting such a tragic and heart braking set of events. Dear Zackery starts off as a motion picture documenting the life of David Bagby, a young student, loved by many, who was tragically gunned down in cold blood by his psychotic ex girlfriend.

The film is an ode to his life, made to be shown to his son, who his ex girlfriend, Shirley, conceived before killing David. The film then begins to document Zackerys early life and the events surrounding his mothers court case against Davids parents.

The wonderful thing about this doc is that, the tragic tale could not be written, it is so unique and daunting that this piece is a tough but powerful watch. Never have I felt so much hatred and anger towards people I have no ties with what so ever.

It's a basic affair, and goes for substance over style. However that does not mean it is poorly executed. Interviews are brilliantly edited in, the whole progress of the film is tremendous and it even has time to fling in the lighter side of life, through all the bleakness.

Powerful, emotional and riveting stuff, a rare gem that not only begs to be watched but must be talked about.
