Review of Dear White People (2014) by Daisy G — 19 Oct 2014
The film was interesting it brought up many questions to what the world see's in racism. Racism is still something that happens in everyday life. I noticed how the viewers reacted and understood the film. It was interesting to hear the viewer's comments while the film was playing and how it made them feel to see the racial interaction between the characters. It was funny and maybe offensive to some viewer's but I found it education and interesting. I say educational because as I was watching this film it made me see the way that people felt about race.
I think the significance of this film is to prove that racism still is something that people keep creating. It also signifies what society wants us to see. Society makes us think that it's ok to put certain people up in power and make others feel as if they shouldn't exist. This film has made me feel that things should change for the better and cut out all racism that this world has. This film signifies the struggle that people have had to prove a point.
