Review of Dear White People (2014) by Dale P — 23 Nov 2018
A lot of people giving negative reviews of the film clearly havenâ(TM)t seen it but just clearly are opposed to the very concept of the film. Personally Iâ(TM)d love to see a movie from a blac perspective that intelligently dissects the race tropes of our time (like college blackface parties, which are addressed in the film, but the fact theyâ(TM)re actually rare, or the overreaction to them in terms of hyperpolicing peopleâ(TM)s costume choices is ignored).
Ultimately it really fails to address these issues intelligently and is little better than your typical buzzfeed video trying to âeducateâ? white people on race. The main character is a typical humorless SJW hypocrite who endlessly spouts woke BS to older and wiser people.
Only good as a window on the stupidity of leftist race politics in the 2020s. I suppose I could add that the thoroughly unlikable Tessa Thompson is the perfect actress to play such an annoying character.
