Review of Dear White People (2014) by Kevin E — 11 Nov 2014
I wasn't sure what to expect from this film but I kept hearing positive reviews about it. When the film was done, I wasn't sure how to feel. Mad. Angry. Happy. Sad. Excited. My feelings were static but I went home and thought about it and I like it.
At the core of the movie is the message of identity and finding yourself, which many people can relate to while going through college and living on a college campus. However, my only problem with the film is that there aren't many redeemable characters in the end.
If this is a film about finding yourself, so should feel some of them arcing in the end. I only felt this way for one character. Overall, it's a movie worth checking out.
