Review of Dear John (2010) by Emelie B — 10 Jan 2011
Great Story. I like movies like this but was not that good as a thought when I saw the trailer, and I like Channing and Amanda, they are great actress and of course like the story between John and Father, Richard Jenkins is great..very touching love between him and Channings roles.
Thou a bit disappointed sometimes how they act, When it comes to John and Savannah.
They could do more to fully capture there roles and now when I have read the book which is much better, there it's a more between them that not comes out in the movie. You get more from the book then the movie.
The story get a hole other meaning in the book and does not came in same order as in the movie. In the book a felt another deep in there love and is really real love between them that not really shows fully in the movie.
And they have changed the some scenes.
I really was moved by this movie and but more by the book. You get to know Johns feelings way better too.
I get a bit of disappointed because the movie feels lot like The notebook. Specially the scene when John comes and visit her in the farm. But the book does not get that impression.
The book also capture the love between John and his dad better and also there the movie has taken away lot.
I know a movie not can capture all that book has so I'm glad I read the book.
But the movie is not bad, is a sweet and cute love story that anyway shows true love.
I really enjoyed it. A love story can I never say no to watch. But had hoped that it cloud bring more than it did.
