Review of Dear John (2010) by Maymay A — 25 Dec 2010
"I'll see you soon, then.".
Dear John is the best Nicholas Sparks novel-turned-film I've ever seen. It may not be as big as that of Titanic, Moulin Rouge!, or Shakespeare in Love but it surely pierced my heart. Channing Tatum made this a hundred times better. I first saw him in Public Enemies but I didn't recognize him that much there. So, I'll just pretend that I first saw him in this movie. Seeing him act for the first time, I was impressed right on. However, I agree with many people that our dear filmmakers should've adapted the ending of the book. I haven't read it but a friend narrated it to me. That ending would surely give so much impact than the one supplied by this movie. Still, it was not really that bad. At least, the movie's last scene made my heart smile. Dear John is a film that truly lingers. All in all, I'm pretty sure I fell in love with Dear John.
