Review of Dear Frankie (2004) by Sarah K — 30 Aug 2007
I can't say enough about this movie... This is the one that made me "fall in love" with Gerard Butler. Emily Mortimer is wonderful, as always, but Frankie steals the show. The range of emotions conveyed by the actors, especially Frankie, who barely speaks through the whole movie, is incredible.
A lot of people I know don't like it because of the less than fairytale ending, but really, the whole story was so grounded in reality from the beginning, it fit perfectly. A fairytale ending would spoil it.
The only drawback I can say is that there is bad language involved. Had they not added that, It would be absolutely perfect. :-).
