Review of Dear Frankie (2004) by Djulka L — 04 Jan 2009
This movie is absolutely charming. The young child that plays Frankie is a wonder. Frankie is so open and loving that it is impossible not to feel attached to him. Gerard Butler and Emily Mortimer have great chemistry.
They both give emotionally deep performances. This is one of my favorites movies. There is a scene near the end of the movie where the mother opens up to the Gerard Butler character about Frankie's father.
You can see the actors feelings sweep over them...very touching. So much of storytelling is normally done through dialogue that only a few films are able to tell a story with silence and feeling. Very powerful.
