Review of Dead Space: Downfall (2008) by Dustin G — 03 Nov 2008
This is a great idea. Release an animated movie as a prequel to a game to show what happened before hand. The story's okay, it works best to watch the movie after you play the game, as the game has some great surprises while you play that would be ruined if you saw the movie first.
You can tell the budget on this thing was small. The animation isn't all that great. There are a couple huge problems I had with the story also. It is however, the bloodiest, goriest animated feature I have ever seen. And there are some cool things in it, like a chainsaw line cutter thing (which doesn't show up in the game).
Overall it's not very impressive and while it's cool to see what happened before the game starts, it could have been way better.
The game however, is amazing. One of the best games I've played in a long time.
