Review of Dead Space: Downfall (2008) by Jamie J — 19 Apr 2011
Interesting if unspectacular prequel to the videogame series. Considering it tells the titular downfall of the Aegis VII colony, and the mining ship Ishimura, there is actually very little depth to the proceedings. Instead there seems to be a preference for over the top gore washing over the screen every thirty seconds. Which would be ok if the animation wasn't so...average.
Not a bad way to spend an hour and a quarter, especially if you are a fan of the Dead Space series. I admire EA's efforts to create an expanded universe akin to Mass Effect or Halo, but when the offerings don't quite hit the mark you can't help but feel slightly disappointed.
