Review of Dead Snow (2009) by True Dirt F — 11 Feb 2011
I have to give credit to this film for coming up with an original idea within the zombie sub-genre; having Nazi zombies. The plot is not bad, Nazi soldiers who formerly occupied the area were crazed for gold and since World War 2 they have been haunting the arctic mountains of the area.
The inclusion of Nazi zombies is a very good idea. The story actually gives the zombies a purpose whereas other films just have zombies run around for the sake of instinctual hunger. Sadly the film does not fully capitalize on the story.
The characters are very week and not enough time is spent on their development/persona for you to actually care about them. The action in the film is gruesome enough to satisfy the most hard stomached fans.
Their is tons of blood, guts, stabbing, pulling out of intestines and so forth. The plot ends with the typical survivor final stand battle. Overall I would say this film is not very suspenseful or scary, its more of an entertaining brutality packed hack and slash film with some kickass resurrected Nazi's.
