Review of Dead Season (2012) by Chris P — 21 Jun 2012
Mad Martigan must really only enjoy films that are filled with millionaire stars, me? Nah, I like not seeing Will Smith or Tom (plenty of last names to choose from) clutter my 54 inch Panasonic flat! So, that said, are there stars in the movie, thank you no sir! Can't wait to see Ted, a film about a bear that comes to life and he is best friends with a lonely loser who is in really great shape.
I don't know a lot of lonely losers that are in Marky Mark shape son! Alright, now to my simple review of this film that I saw in the UK, strange, fun place decent chicks. The action in Dead Season puts the viewer right there with the characters.
It's almost a dirty horror film, not because of the genre, but it feels like almost a western/horror film and the characters are slowly forgetting about modern day technology and the ones that have survived are the ones that have let go to some of their past.
That said, the main character Elvis, played by Scott Peete still tries to hold onto what he once had but doesn't loose sight on what he must do to survive. The best way I can explain it is if you are texting and driving, you're chances of dieing are at higher risk, so don't text and drive, seems simple enough right? Wrong, just because these zombies are "walkers" doesn't mean they still can't surprise you.
Just re-read that, I get what I said, some might not. The other main character is a hot chick named Tweeter, played by Marisa Merril. Why is she hot? Well, I guess the producers of the little film wanted to find distribution so they cast an actress with a great rack! Bonus, she was one hell of an actress too.
I couldn't stop watching her, very internal. The acting was key because at times the situations seemed odd, but they never broke and that kept me in this film. Also, they didn't try to do a lot of horror type of scare tactics that most of these films do.
The sound and rapid pace and location kept you in tune to the story and what was going on. I think director Adam Deyoe did a wonderful job at telling this story. It was refreshing to see. I grew up a Sam Raimi fan and this was just as fun, less silly but his didn't get to that point until the sequels.
Where does it stand? Well, I thought is was a fun little ride and something I could watch again. I say 7 out of 10 star named actors.
