Review of Dead Ringers (1988) by Gary B — 29 Jul 2010
This is surely one of the key inspirations behind Double Impact. Jeremy Irons dual role permits him to display a wider range of acting ability and this must have inspired Jean Claude Van Damme. I like to think JCVD watched Dead Ringers upon release and admired the way that Irons convincingly portrayed both a confident drug addicted gynecologist who ends up getting disemboweled by his less confident drug addicted gynecologist brother and said less confident brother.
I like to think that this admiration grew and was transformed into the inspiration required to portray both an arms dealer who berates his twin brother for wearing pink shorts and said pink short wearing brother.
As such this was surely one of the pivotal moments in the history of western cinema.
