Review of Dead Presidents (1995) by Nathan L — 23 Apr 2008
I thought it was going to just be a simple heist film, but it really turned out to be much more. A full portrait of the Vietnam era as told from the perspective of a black American, the film's ambitions are high.
Unfortunately, it only hits it's notes some of the time. The heist itself is excellent, as are the first movements of the film (pre-Vietnam enlistment and his actual time there), but not much else works.
