Review of Dead Presidents (1995) by Douglas W — 02 Mar 2012
One of the best films I have ever seen. Outside of the Deer Hunter, perhaps the best homefront Vietnam War film ever. However, I could see why mostly white critics panned the film. After all, the violence was over the top and the ending was horrible.
However, the Hughes brothers wanted to capture the pain and psychological suffering that young black men faced after coming back from a very unpopular war. Great cast that features a young Terrence Howard and Chris Tucker, but Larenz Tate is amazing as Anthony Curtis.
Great film, a must -see.
