Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Matthew D — 31 May 2018
A coming of age classic for all ages.
Peter Weir his most touching film about a group of private school boys that must learn to think on their own. Robin Williams is brilliant as the professor that cares and wants students to be happy. The lesson of seize the day will stay with me forever. Dead Poets Society casts off the cruelty of adults and expectations for a rising story with genuine drama.
Young actors Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard are so moving and relatable. You will find yourself connecting to the plight of at least one boy in the cast. It is a tale of universal themes that give children something to aspire to, teenagers something to model themselves after, and adults to remember their best years. Dead Poets Society is immortal.
The music is equally rousing and haunting. It goes from triumphant to gleeful. Creative writing that speaks to the heart leads Dead Poets Society to timeless status.
I recommend Dead Poets Society for all ages. Watch it and free yourself from stress and the expectations of others.
