Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Stephen S — 17 May 2012
Pretty enjoyable. I'm not usually a fan of dramas, and sometimes Robin Williams doesn't always seem like a good choice for roles like this at the outset (I'm not going to automatically assume he's going to pull off a Good Will Hunting-esque performance every time).
I wish more time was devoted to poetry and the Dead Poets Society though. It obviously has a big effect on the film's storyline and progression, but the society is not explained as well as it should be.
The ending is pretty stupid as well--nothing is resolved, and Keating is simply left to deal with everything on his own. I liked this film, but it is definitely not without its flaws.
