Review of Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982) by Fatiz A — 13 May 2015
The main joke of the film is how they keep mixing the modern scenes with Steve Martin with scenes from old black and white private eye films. As you might imagine this doesn't leave much room for a coherent plot, and the thrill of seeing Martin interact with Bogie or Kirk Douglas doesn't last.
Maybe the incoherence is part of the joke, but what it amounts to is a muddled, only occasionally funny film that's trying too hard.
