I don't actually think this film is very funny, which might be because of the limits of the conceit or possibly because I have some unusual immunity to the charms of the Reiner-Martin team. However, it is somehow historically significant for its reliance on pastiche and splicing, and a kind of symptomatic neo-noir film.
