First time I saw sean penn act that left me feeling "whoa." susan sarandon was very deserving of her oscar for this movie, which her husband (tim robbins) directed. and as excellent as bruce springsteen's songs were for this movie, it is yet again, eddie vedder, that sets to the mood at the end.
if it weren't for the staid point of the entire story, would be very "enjoyable" to watch again and again.
