Review of Dead Man Walking (1995) by Marnie Z — 18 Jul 2009
This movie blew me away. Every aspect of it is top notch. The story balances different sides and perspectives of a terrible crime and the use of the death penalty. The actors disappear effortlessly into their characters.
The director made effective decisions to enhance the debate, such as switching the story to lethal injection to remove the audience's natural disgust to violence, yet never allows the movie to become preachy.
Even the soundtrack is really special. Incredible movie, all around.
